Notes
Writing assignment number 1 was to write two notes, one to your friend and another one to your boss stating why you will not be at the office at a certain date. You have worked in pairs with this writing task, teacher's feedback has already been given. The third step is now to publish your writing so that all CAE students in this group can enjoy your notes. We do not comment on each other's texts!

I just received a very urgent phone call concerning my mother’s health. She is suffering from cancer and her condition is critical. Due to the circumstances I will have to go and visit her in hospital in New Orleans this weekend. Therefore I will have to be absent on Friday. I won’t be able to have lunch with you tomorrow. I’m so sorry but my mother is very sick and therefore she needs me. As you know she’s got cancer and today the doctor told me that she is not responding to her treatment. As you understand I’ll have to go there as soon as possible. I swear I’ll make it up to you next week, are you free on Friday?

This afternoon I received an urgent telephone call from my family physician. He told me that my mother had had a near fatal heart attack, so I have to go and visit her tomorrow. Owing to that fact I can not attend work tomorrow. I will make up for the lost time by working overtime for the rest of the week. I hope that this will not cause any inconvenience or further problem.
